Third Shoot

For this shoot I did something different and emulated the work of Leopoldo Plentz's Useless Things.

I got some meaningful and random objects that would be easy to scan, and arranged them in various positions, experimenting with grouping different items and backgrounds.

As an experimentation these images came out well, with the various backgrounds highlighting the objects, which symbolise the random collection of items in the attic. I can always improve on this by perhaps using different items and material for the background, and continue experimenting.

Second Shoot

In response to my last shoot- I used a disposable camera as I wanted to see if the aesthetic worked in this project (because the disposable nature of the camera links with the objects in the attic: never to be seen or used again). Also I manipulated the lighting by alternating between using flash and artificial light in the attic, and tried to photograph areas previously not taken.

Overall I think the shoot could have been more successful; I originally took more images but they all came out black, most likely because they were photographed without the flash. Therefore there is less variety of images and the use of flash removes any subtly that might have been exhibited in the environment.

Nevertheless some of the images are quite interesting from the gritty but amateur aesthetic, the angles the photos were taken, to the use of colours, where in some cases it looks very eerie (in particular the plasticine head).

Next time I will focus on the lighting and using a disposable or film camera, to see how the images turn out.
